Medieval people held highly specific views on beauty, essentially articulated around the notion of harmony, but the works of art they cherished vary widely over time and sometimes frustrate our (post)modern gaze.
We shall study the notion of beauty through different prisms, namely the manufacturing of beauty through physical works (architecture, jewels, clothing, manuscripts, etc), and the spectacle and experience of beauty in nature and through the divine.
